An Alien at Glastonbury |

| Well I didn’t quite manage the mighty
Pyramid or 'Other stage' exactly, but your local Alien did manage to
grab a couple of slots at some of the 'peripheral' alternative
venues! |
| I spent a lot of my time near Green
fields and saw some great acts that weren’t even on the main bill.
One was called 'Echo Strings which featured two hot ladies playing
even hotter electric fiddle accompanied by bass, drums and
electonica. This was in a marquee in 'Green Futures called Croissant
neuf I think? Everything was solar powered. |
| |
| Near there was also a large tent called
The 'Jam tent' which actually had a piano in and various instruments
which anyone could wander in and pick up, guitars, accordion drums
whistles, bongo’s etc .I must have spent quite a few hours in there
and jammed with some excellent musicians. A BBC2 crew who were
filming a guy with a bicycle attached to a washing machine n/door
and asked all of us jamming at the time if we could do a rendition
of 'I want to ride my bicycle'! Can’t stand the song but got me 5
seconds of fame! |

There was another marquee I came across, sorry name
escapes me (too many 'ahem' cakes) which was like an open mike venue,
very relaxed with sofas, so did some
acoustic songs here.
The 'Bandstand' was another great laugh, two guys were running this
and managed to get –a harpist, bass, trumpet, trombone, tuba,
Keyboard, harmonium, drums and me on harmonica to get up and do
'Sugar Sugar'!
We even changed key midway to accommodate a harp solo as I didn’t
have the right key on me! |

Oh the bands -nearly forgot.
I did see Iggy Pop who was amazing and reminded me of what rock
supposed to be about- EXCITING! Shared the stage for a few seconds
in the crowd invasion but was
cast off by a burly bouncer who hurled me from one side to the
other-but it was worth it!
Caught Amey Winehouse who did a great set. Fantastic voice and great
band, I just hope she doesn’t end up like Janis Joplin and so many
other self destructs.
Anyway despite falling over flat on me face in the mud several times
I had a fantastic time, met a load of really nice people - GOOD VIBE
ALL ROUND
