Torn CD Review - Disturbance in the Equilibrium

By Kevin - Bristol Rocks

I used to have a vinyl album by a band called 'The Movies' that I played until it was worn out & useless. The movies album was never released on CD and I have missed playing it because the music it contained was a rather unique blend of rock & funk that I like to think of as 'intellectual music'. Disturbance in the Equilibrium has these features and more.....I am pleased to tell you that this without a doubt is the best album that I have heard in a very long time.
Small Mercies is a perfect fusion of these components with an unusual harmonics thing going on in the background. Brilliant.
Kiss of Life - Funky....a bit, Rockish...Maybe, Dynamic range...lots,  excellent....most definitely.
Pilgrim I don't mean to go on but....Superb.
Sideways, I love to play bass guitar, this is the bass line I wanted to write. Scrumptious.
Beautiful Monster is more bass cleverness with layered synth & guitar that do not crowd the sound. Very nice.
Disturbance in the Equilibrium. Until now my comments have been bordering on sycophantic. Here things change and I go one stage beyond. This track is Awesome, who thought of adding the strings, give that man a medal.
Stone me, Overcome, Solid Blood and Thaumaturgy are all equally satisfying. There is not one bad track on this album.

Now take a look at the package and learn. When I first saw the image on the front of the album I was sure that I wanted to listen to the music. There is no reference to where the image is from but it (for me) is perfect CD cover art. The sort of image that stands out from most of the dull rubbish that normally sits on the front of an album.

This CD gets a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from Bristol Rocks and jumps right into the number one spot in our album chart. This one will take some beating......
