Sliced Peach EP Review

By Kevin from Bristol Rocks

Sliced peach submitted their four track EP to Bristol Rocks for review. The CD is professionally presented in a printed cardboard sleeve. The artwork on the sleeve and the printed CD is top quality. Other bands please note that product presentation IS important in the quest to get your CD noticed. We have received CD’s that are just CDR’s with a band name & title written in magic marker. While these CD’s get a listen, they are normally discarded after. The Sliced Peach EP will take it’s place alongside our other professionally produced CD’s for future use.

Audio production of all four tracks is excellent; they were recorded & mixed at Animal Farm studios.

The first track is called Spellbound and my personal favourite from the EP, this is a melodic track with good harmonies. A quality Brit pop song with a catchy hook and plenty of energy, I would love to see this played live.

Burning Starr is the track featured on Bristol Rocks website and will appear on the BR CD to be released later this year, so you can listen to this yourself. This track is slow and powerful with excellent vocals from Leigh North.

No Apologies is another melodic Brit pop song with excellent dynamics. I love the way that this track moves from  bass, drums & vocals in the verse, to a gorgeous full instrumental sound, with a topping of huge bold harmonies.

I would like to have one song to criticise so that I could show myself as a mean music critic, but it will not be Bad Ass Billy which is the last track on the EP. This is another track that I would love to hear live, I can imagine a frenzied audience bopping to the lively chorus. This song is full of clever and contrasting parts that shouldn’t really go together, but they do! This of course leaves me nothing to criticise, so there goes my hard nosed music journalist image....Maybe next time.

Sliced Peach make top notch British pop. This music is excellent both recorded and live.

Bristol Rocks 'Highly recommended'
