Kyra's Profile |

|
By Paul Loader |
|
I think that I have fallen in love….sigh…..with
a voice that is. And that voice belongs to Kyra Bernice.
Bristol’s very own rock songstress. What a great set of pipes that
lady has.
The Loaders were privileged
enough to play alongside Krya at one of Alf Kingston’s
acoustic nights at The Old Tavern in Stapleton.
Billed as an ‘Acoustic Rock Night’, Kyra was
the only female act on the bill and she definitely brought some
colour to the evening. |
 |
|
By the time she had got on stage a few pints of Vimto had already
been consumed and the audience, which had definitely swelled in
numbers by the time she picked up her guitar, were in the mood for
Kyra’s style of West Country banter and Bon Jovi style power
ballads. |
| |
|
For the most part Kyra sang her own songs from
her own recordings, songs that were strong and memorable. I would
really like to get my hands on her back collection as I feel that I
have some catching up to do (hint hint). |
| |
|
She sang a few covers at the end of her short
set in order to keep the crowd happy, two of which I had never heard
of (joys of not listening to the radio much these days I suppose),
and one Bon Jovi song in celebration of their Ashton Gate
visit in June, which was absolutely stonking. With Alf on the sound
desk giving Kyra’s guitar an extra ‘ooph’ with a stadium reverb
effect, she definitely had turned into a female version of Ritchie
Sambora, with all the grit and passion of Jon B himself. I reckon
that Kyra would be more than comfortable performing in front of a
huge stadium crowd. |
| |
|
Kyra has a very strong confident voice, which
will hopefully take her all the way as she is performing in the
final of the Unsigned artists competition in London this coming
Sunday (20th April 08). Providing there is somebody on
the panel that likes their music ballsey, from the heart and down
sight sassy, then Kyra could be in for a chance of walking away with
the prize.
Good Luck girl, we’re routing for you! |
| |
| Note from Kevin (Bristol Rocks): Kyra is
without a doubt one of the most talented ladies playing in Bristol.
I have seen her play live many times and she is always ace. Bristol
Rocks wishes her all the best with the Unsigned Artists competition.
GOOD LUCK KYRA!!! |
