Harry North is one of those rare performers that emerge from time to time. Not only does he play the acoustic guitar, but he likes to entertain at the same time.

Harry had taken the extremely brave step of offering to support a fully plugged in (for that read loud) three piece Punk/Rock band at the Green Park Tavern in Bath.

Harry was then faced with the unenviable prospect of performing of to an audience made up solely of the three members of the band that he was supporting and the sound man.

However, Harry has a level of confidence that kept him going and he appeared able to include the punters sipping their ale in the adjoining bar as well as the band in front of him and was bent on enjoying his set no matter what the lack of punters would suggest, which pulled in the those that were listening despite themselves.

Harry’s an accomplished guitarist with a strong distinctive voice that cuts through clearly. He also likes to rock it up a bit and many of his songs had a groove that kept the feet tapping and head nodding.

His choice of songs be they covers or originals blended well and he even took the liberty of taking a song like ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis and putting a completely different melody to it.

I for one would like to see Harry in an environment that at least afforded him a decent sized audience as I am sure he would be able to relax a little more into a playful banter with the crowd as he appeared to enjoy himself with only four people to play to. Imagine what he could do with 50.

Check him out, you won’t regret it.
